Evaluating teaching practices: the PraDISP Scale in the school context

Abstract

Quality in schools is not merely a set of technical indicators or measurable outcomes, but an integrated process that arises and develops through a strong, shared school culture focused on educational and social improvement. Teacher evaluation is a central aspect of school culture, as it influences both the quality of teaching and learning and the well-being of students. Teacher evaluation must be viewed through the lens of school improvement; however, to achieve such improvement, it must be rigorous and effective. Here, to underscore the importance of effective teacher evaluation, we will present a pilot study conducted on three teachers from two schools in the Genoa area using a data collection tool, namely the PraDISP Evaluation Scale (Teaching Practices of Primary School Teachers).
