An educational voice from the margins. The public poetic education programme of the Teatro del Lido di Ostia

Abstract

This paper offers a philosophical-educational reflection on the Public Poetic Education project of the Teatro del Lido di Ostia, a peripheral cultural institution founded on a model of public and participatory theatre grounded in horizontal and inclusive practices. Informed by the rationale of a poetic paradigm for rethinking educational action, the article explores the project as an emblematic case of poetic and communal education, capable of restoring a central role to the aesthetic dimension. Art, and theatre in particular, is examined as a medium of beauty, co-participation, and justice, and as a space for the formation of plural and engaged subjectivities. By taking the margin as a civic site of resistance and a generative condition, public poetic education outlines a pedagogical horizon that resists contemporary dehumanisation, fostering solidarity and human flourishing, and proposing a renewed alliance between art, education, ethics, and community.
