Abstract
Civic education was reintroduced into the school curriculum in the 2020-21 school year. Considering the recent updates to the 2024 Guidelines for the Teaching of Civic Education, it is essential to explore students’ perceptions of citizenship. This paper presents part of the findings from a qualitative study conducted within the framework of the “Global Civic Education. Transforming Global Citizenship Education into Practice through Civic Education (GloCivEd)” project. The study aimed to examine students’ experiences with civic education instruction and its possible connection to the concept of global citizenship. The research was carried out through 16 focus groups conducted in final-year secondary school classrooms in Rome and Viterbo during the 2024–2025 school year
