Copyright Statement
Authors who publish in MeTis retain copyright of their contributions, granting the journal the right of first publication.
Articles are published under a Creative Commons license (adopted license CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), which allows the material to be shared with proper attribution to the author and source, for non-commercial purposes and, if the material is transformed or built upon, it must be distributed under the same license as the original.
Authors guarantee that:
- the contribution is original and has not been previously published or submitted to other journals;
- any copyrighted materials (images, tables, etc.) are used with permission;
- the content does not infringe on the rights of third parties.
The journal reserves the right to:
- distribute and archive contributions in databases, digital archives, and institutional repositories;
- promote the content through academic and digital channels.
Authors may:
- deposit the work in institutional or personal archives;
- share the published PDF, clearly indicating the original source (MeTis).
Regulation on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools in Scientific Articles for the Journal MeTis
Art. 1 – Purpose and Scope
These regulations govern the use of Artificial Intelligence tools (hereinafter “AI”) in the drafting, peer-reviewing, and submission of scientific contributions to the journal MeTis.
It applies to all authors submitting articles for publication, as well as to reviewers within the evaluation process.
Art. 2 – General Principles
The use of AI tools must comply with the following principles:
- Scientific integrity;
- Transparency;
- Authorial responsibility;
- Methodological correctness.
The author retains full responsibility for the content of the manuscript, regardless of the use of AI tools.
Art. 3 – Permitted Uses
The use of AI tools is permitted exclusively as support for the following activities:
a) Linguistic and stylistic revision;
b) Translation;
c) Preliminary organization and structuring of the text;
d) Orientative synthesis of scientific literature;
e) Elaboration of examples or educational insights, subject to critical verification.
In any case, the use of AI cannot replace the author's original intellectual contribution.
Art. 4 – Prohibited Uses
It is forbidden to:
a) Attribute total or partial authorship of the contribution to AI systems;
b) Present AI-generated content as original without adequate critical revision;
c) Use AI for the production of empirical data, research results, or unverified bibliographic references;
d) Employ AI tools for the purpose of evading regulations on plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
Art. 5 – Disclosure Obligation
Authors are required to explicitly declare any use of AI tools within the manuscript.
The declaration must indicate:
- The specific tool used;
- The purposes of its use;
- The degree of human intervention in the reworking of the content.
This declaration must be included in a dedicated section titled “Declaration on the Use of AI” at the end of the article.
Art. 6 – Verification of Sources and Accuracy
Authors must guarantee the accuracy, verifiability, and reliability of all information contained in the contribution.
It is mandatory to verify every piece of content generated with AI support, with particular reference to data, citations, and bibliographic references.
The citation of non-existent or unverifiable sources is not permitted.
Art. 7 – Ethics of Pedagogical Research
The use of AI in pedagogical contributions must be consistent with the ethical principles of educational research, including:
- Respect for the dignity of the subjects involved;
- Protection of personal and sensitive data;
- Critical awareness of the role of technologies in educational processes.
Art. 8 – Role of Reviewers
Within the peer review process, reviewers may:
- Request clarifications regarding the use of AI;
- Report any critical issues or inconsistencies;
- Recommend revisions in cases of use that do not comply with these regulations.
Art. 9 – Violations and Sanctions
Failure to comply with these regulations may result in:
- A request for modifications or additions to the manuscript;
- Rejection of the contribution;
- Retraction of the article, even after publication, in cases of serious violations.
Art. 10 – Final Provisions
These regulations are subject to periodic review in relation to the evolution of AI technologies and the relevant scientific debate.
The submission of a contribution to the journal MeTis implies full acceptance of these regulations.
